10 Most important Characteristics of Cooling Tower Water Treatment

A cooling tower water system is the process of separating heat from hot water and then ejecting the waste heats to the environment through the cooling of a water stream to affordable temperature. Various heavy use industries like petrochemical, turbine industries, petroleum refineries, power plants, gas processing plants, food processing plants and other industrial facilities. Such industries need regular supply of water to keep the equipment cool from overheat damage so the water has to rotate around them regularly but when it does, it becomes very hot. That heated water is processed by way of cooling it down so that the heat is dissipated in form of vapor and the cooled down water is circulated back to the machinery.  To compensate for vapor loss in the atmosphere, extra water is added to the processed water for recycle to continue. We have 10 Most important Characteristics of Cooling Tower Water Treatment that make a cooling tower plant necessary for the industry.

The cooling tower used for water treatment may vary in size from small rooftop to larger units like hyperboloid structures. We aspire for cooling tower water treatments by these points of distinction:

  1. Water treatment, the most important aspect of a cooling tower in the making of a process: Without water, heat transfer from the systems operations in many industries would become impossible and lead to stressful mechanical life or a high temperature environment that might become dangerous to work in.

  2. Heat transfer is the objective: A cooling tower must possess the qualities of preserving the coolant state. It is the coolant which makes the transfer of heat possible from one material to another. The material which is obtained and loses heat is ascribed to be cooled and the main component of cooling the heat is a coolant.

  3. Cooling Tower Water Treatment involves heavy use of water for dispersal of heat into the atmosphere: Since water is the most liquid form of matter and can absorb thermal energy, it also does dissipate the risk of inflammation. Most industrial production processes require the cooling water for the accurate and proper functioning.

  4. Treatment of cooling is crucial to work many industries:  There are many heavy industries in the world that require regular heat treatment. These industries include refineries, steel mills, petrochemical plants, chemical processing plants, turbines, etc. While it is obvious that cooling towers permit a permissible environment to control excess heat, the necessity to perform heat transfer makes for an entire dependency upon the cooling water process by these industries.

  5. Operation efficiency and cost control are the reasons why cooling towers are maintained: Machineries that are made to run in a controlled temperature setting can be damaged if their temperature is not maintained continuously. Hence, without heat transfer, equipment can be damaged and lead to extra industry expenditure. Thus, the operation of cooling tower water treatment is vital to the sustainability, efficiency, and cost of the industrial process.

  6. Timely monitoring is key to the life of a cooling tower: Cooling tower water treatment needs periodic surveillance because of the water process. Water may contain calcites and silica, it tends to form lime on the film fills. It can also form biofilm and microorganisms. To control this effect, regular monitoring and diagnosis of the treatment process is necessary to a safe process and also control its cost.

  7. Water is the most vital natural resource: Places where the scarcity of water tends to influence its demand, putting up a cooling tower may not be a very viable option. If a tower is already installed in a water scarce place, methods to filter it are mandatory.

  8. Cooling tower carries some disadvantages also: The working of a cooling tower requires continuous upkeep. Fan cleaning is a must and inspection for cracks and debris that accumulates on the blades has to be done. Water distribution in the cooling tower also clogs and produces lime and scale. It fastens corrosion of metal segments and can lead to biological growth so equipment maintenance is necessary.

  9. Cooling towers also come as separate parts: Some Packaged cooling towers are the factory prefabricated and for the safe of transportation, they are constructed in different parts. Once transported to the site, all the parts can be assembled easily and the tower becomes ready for operation.

  10. Towers have different methods of heat treatment: Basically heat transfer methods in the Cooling Tower mechanism can be of two types, one is based on the principle of dry cooling wherein heat transfer is done through a surface that split the working fluid in it. Wet cooling towers are based on evaporative cooling. The fluid coolers passes the fluid through a tube bundle, upon which heat is transferred from one chamber to another.
